Biography
My previous profession was teaching English in China before coming to the UK. I have indulged in drawing and painting ever since childhood, and chose to read a second degree in Fine Art at Duncan of Jordanstone four years ago. Most of my work are inspired by my family,Chinese culture and history, and I like to portray my feelings towards them through art.My rooted character of having been trained to be precise, patient, and diligent from childhood is reflected in my delicate etching works. The process of building up images using oil painting is a metaphor of my life of being hard working, and setting step by step targets to achieve a better quality of life.My MFA study is further continuing to explore the issue focused on my Chinese heritage and the interest in western art in the light of these global cultural exchanges. The confrontation of both cultural morals, the uncertainty of the paradoxical reality or diaspora aesthetics will be portrayed bringing the question of hybrid identity.
